560 Miles. 7 Days. San Francisco to Los Angeles
What do you think of when you think of fat women?
Healthy, athletic, beautiful people participating fully in their
lives? Happily married, successful in business and family?
If you don’t, maybe you should.
In the grueling California AIDS Ride, an estimated
2,500 people bike every year from San Francisco to Los Angeles,
challenging themselves while they raise funds for charity. Many
of those riders are plus size women.
This documentary film follows a group of these
women—attorneys, business owners, teachers, students, girlfriends,
mothers and wives—who took on the challenge to bike 560 miles
in 7 days. They rode in the name of charity, of generosity. They
rode most especially, perhaps, in the name of possibility, the limitless
possibility for achievement, community and self-respect that is
available to every person.
Take this opportunity to meet these women, and to learn
more about this film. We hope you’ll find inspiration and joy
on these pages, as we all found inspiration and joy in the women who permitted us to follow their experiences.
